Home Learning

This week we would like the children to show their understanding of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000 which they have covered this week.  There are two sheets that the children can complete and return to their class teacher attached below.

English

The children started the week producing a piece of art that depicted a fight scene from their class text: Floodland. Strong verbs and adverbs were then the focus in their writing lessons this week.  The children spent time looking at sentence openers using EDINGLY (starting sentences with verbs that end in –ed, -ing or adverbs that end in –ly). By the end of the week, the children had created a well-written fight scene that entertained the reader!

Maths

Multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000 was our focus this week.  The children know that when you multiply by 10, 100, 1000 the answer gets bigger and the digits jump to the left.  If they divide by 10, 100, 1000, their answer gets smaller and their digits jump to the right.  We would like the children to demonstrate their understanding by completing the home learning that is attached at the bottom of this blog.

Thematic

Our science continued this week with the children learning about how variation leads to evolution, how plants adapt to survive, and finished the week by answering a scientific question: are all plants the same?

Art

This week, the children explored the designer William Morris.  They learnt about him, his style and then started to plan and create their own versions in the same style. Learn more about William Morris here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zpqxs82/articles/zc9pvj6#zq2gkhv
