Friday 17th September
Well done to Year 5 on another fantastic week's work. Here's what we've been up to this week:
English:
This week, we have continued reading 'Ice Trap' and have followed Shackleton and his men on their life on the ice floes. We have been writing a non-chronological report about Antarctica, focusing on using technical language. Firstly, we read through a couple of non-chron and then made a list of the different features. We planned and wrote our first two paragraphs, Geography and Wildlife. Next week, we will be continuing our non-chrons, writing our next two paragraphs, Climate and History as well as a 'Fun Facts' section.
Maths:
This week, we have been looking at Addition and Subtraction and practising these skills in a range of different ways. We also made steps to successes for both skills to ensure that we could avoid any mistakes. Towards the end of the week, we applied our skills to a range of different word problems. Next week, we will be moving on to Multiplication and Division.
Topic
This week, we have started our new Topic 'Frozen Kingdom'. For our Entry Point, we were given a 130kg pulk and had to decide which items we were going to take and explain our choices. We then moved on to our Art Part and created some 3D landscapes of Antarctica including the mountains of Antarctica and Mount Erebus, the Volcano that is there.
Home Learning
