Guided Reading

In guided reading this week, we have continued reading Grace and Family. To begin the week, we compared the similarities and differences between Grace’s family and our own families. We then created some beautiful illustrations for the story we are writing in English.

Next week, we will be starting a new book The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl.

English

In English this week, we began the week by learning how to use sentence openers to make our sentences longer and more exciting. After that, we planned our own story about Grace returning to Africa. The children were all so creative coming up with different ideas for Grace’s adventure. We then spent the rest of the week writing our stories. We focused on using sentence openers and adjectives to improve our writing. We are so proud of the incredible writing they produced!

Next week, we will be learning to use conjunctions.

Topic

In topic this week. We have been focusing on science. We began the week sorting things into living, dead and things that have never been alive. We learnt about food sources and where our food comes from. We then looked at a variety of different food chains and had a go at creating our own.

Next week is PSHE week, we will be learning all about healthy relationships.

- PE is on a Monday afternoon- kit should be a white t-shirt and black or navy bottoms. Some children have been coming into school in a variety of colours, please can we ensure we are sticking to the school PE kit rules.

- Can you please ensure your child comes into school with a water bottle.
