Daily learning - W/B 20th April :-)

Click here for this week's learning activities...

Friday 24thApril

Good Morning Year 5

It's been great to see so many of you putting in so much effort with your learning this week after the Easter break.  It was also very nice to hear some of your voices this week too and finding out about some of the fun things you've been doing. If we didn't manage to get hold of you we will try again next week as we'd love to speak to you all.

Lot's of you did really well with your Roman numeral maths challenges - Shout outs to Finley and Stanley and also some fantastic learning by Maisie too. Well done everyone.

For Today's leaning in Maths, there is another Roman Numeral challenge below. There are also a set of answers for you to check your learning from this week.

In English we'd like you to consider who your hero is. Who inspires you? Who do you look up to? There is a sheet explaining this in more detail below.

In the afternoon we'd like you to complete a final activity on our values. Choose one more activity and don't forget we'd love to see your learning - either on the Padlet or email it to us for us to see. We love looking at the work you are producing.

Don't forget over the weekend to remember to read and also go in TTRS.

Have a lovely weekend it looks like the sun will be shining.

Thursday 23rd April

Hi Everyone!

We've some great learning so far this week and good to see many of you sharing learning and staying in touch on the Padlet. How many of you are still completing the Joe Wicks PE lesson every morning? Have you been out on your bike or scooter or been for a walk and seen anything interesting? Has anyone stayed up late to see the satellites in the clear night sky? Let us know on the Padlet - we'd love to hear some exciting and interesting news.

Shout Out! Well done to Jack for an amazing score on a maths game he's been completing. There have been some super description and amazing vocabulary used - particularly well done to Anna and Herb for their setting descriptions. Thank you Finley for sending pictures of your amazing maths learning and art.

So for todays learning...

In English we've seen some fabulous setting descriptions this week. Today we'd like you to create a character description of the vulture. Below you will find a sheet with some vocabulary to help you.

For Maths today we would like you to complete some Roman numeral challenges. As well as the challenge sheet there is also a resource sheet to support your learning. Do your best - there is a mark sheet for all of this week's learning to follow tomorrow.

Afternoon Activities - try to complete an activity from the grid that you think will challenge you the most. Try to be as creative as possible. We'd love to see some Rap Videos!

Scroll down for the links to the activities. Have a great day!

Firstly, well done to all the children posting on The Padlet - this is a 'shout out' to all of you who shared their amazing work! File:Golden star.svg - Wikipedia

Also, a special mention to Gabe  who has been working extremely hard at home with his learning as well as learning how to bake a cake...brilliant stuff!

English - For today’s lesson, we would like you to write a setting description based on the picture you sketched yesterday or use the image (attached) - remember to use your senses and figurative language to really engage the reader.

Maths - Today's Maths work involves reasoning-style challenges based on 'Place Value' and learning you have completed this week - there are answers attached so you can mark your answers!

Afternoon Activities (continued) - This week would have been our 'Values week'. This terms theme is ‘Good to be me’.
Have a look at the grid of activities (attached) and choose an activity - or more than one - each day that interests you.

Remember, you still have your learning packs which your teacher's made for you and the useful Internet links below - you can always complete some additional activities as well!

Tuesday, 21st...

Morning all,

I hope you had a brilliant Monday and are feeling great! Don't forget to search Joe Wicks on YouTube and complete his daily exercise routine - it's important that you all keep up your fitness levels!

I know the teachers are really enjoying speaking to you all on the phone - if you haven't had your call yet, keep listening out for that phone ring (we won't forget you!).

PADLET! The comments and pictures are great but this only seems to be from a small group of children - please, please, please write a comment and/or post some images of your work (it's lovely to share).

Who will have the most children commenting on 'The Padlet' by the end of this week...Team Topaz or Team Aqua?

English -

For today’s lesson, we would like you to watch yesterday's video again and then sketch the landscape.

On the attached document is a picture of the opening scene but you can choose any part of the video to base your sketch on. Be creative with your pictures and use lots of colour. Chalks would look fantastic if they have them or use different techniques such dots and lines (similar to how we made our Ghandi display) to create texture and depth.
