Chilton Primary School

One Childhood, One Chance

W/B 7th September 2020 Weekly Year 5 Blog

What a wonderful week Year 5 have had! The children in Team Peacock, Team Azure and Team Ultramarine have settled into their first full week of school seamlessly, have all been showing the Chilton Way and have been working tremendously hard.

Learning this week

This week, the children began reading 'Ice Trap!'. We made predictions, clarifications, asked questions and created some artwork in our Guided Reading lessons. In English, we researched, planned and wrote a wonderful non-chronological report on Antarctica. In our Maths lessons, our foci were Place Value and rounding. In the afternoons, we have been focusing on the Chilton Way and building and repairing friendships.

Learning next week

Next week, we will be looking at four operations in Maths, focusing on written and mental methods. In English, we will be focusing on writing an icy description whilst continuing with the 'Ice Trap!' story. In the afternoons, we will be focusing on 'Living in the wider world' and how our school experiences and learning can help us outside of school.

Reminder - The children must come to school on Wednesday in their PE kit as the year 5 children can not get changed in school.  Children will need their Chilton PE kit.
