The wheels on the bus....

Weekly News 17.11.23

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your home learning. We have enjoyed looking at your creations and the children have shared their beautiful pieces with each other.

Please can we remind you that the school trip taking place next week (27th November for Team Cornflower and 28th for Team Sapphire) the children do not need to bring lunches as it will take place in the morning before lunch and they will need to wear school uniform and wear a warm waterproof coat, thank you in advance.

Phonics

The children have been eager to learn sounds in their Read Write Inc groups and have been applying their skills during Power Play. We encourage the children to orally blend words (saying the sounds out in a word and putting them together e.g c-a-t, cat) The children are learning how to form sounds in words using ‘Fred Fingers’. Here is a useful link to help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GjC6q7kX68

Thank you for your continued support at home with supporting and encouraging your child’s reading and writing.

Maths

This week, we have been learning 2D and 3D shapes. The children have been discussing sides and corners of shapes to identify them by name. They have made pictures using shapes, cutting out shapes, using the hammer and nails to form shapes and drawing around shapes. Also, he children have been on shape hunts finding circles, square, triangles, oblongs and pentagons around the school.

Next week, the children will be exploring AB, ABB and ABC patterns.

Thematic Curriculum

We have started out new Thematic on Transport. The children started the week with a very Naughty Bus who came and messed up the whole classroom! The story goes through all the adventures a little toy bus goes on which led us onto discovering other forms of transport that we may know through our own experiences. The children have created their own artwork on the story ‘The Naughty Bus’ along with retelling the story which they performed in groups.

Next week, we will be going on our bus trip and draw maps of where we went and what we saw.
