One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News W/b Monday 28th November - Team Indigo and Team Royal

We have all had an incredibly busy week learning in Team Indigo and Team Royal, take a look at what we have been up to….

This week in maths we have been focusing on statistics. We started the week looking at pictograms, tally charts, block diagrams, Carroll diagrams and Venn diagrams.

This week in English we have started The Stick Man by Julia Donaldson. This week we have focused on our reading skills. We have learnt how to sequence and summarise The Stick Man, identify rhyming words, clarify vocabulary we were unsure of e.g. mast, and review the book.

In RWI this week we have been focusing on building up their fluency when reading, this included their pace, speed, expressions and reading punctuation. Any additional practice will be hugely beneficial.

Thematic Curriculum

This week we have been artists! In art this week we looked at the artist George Seurat and his pointillism method using only dots to colour in his picture. We have been experimenting what tool works best and refining our skills on pointillism.

Next week in:

Next week in English we will be continuing the book The Stick Man and using our writing skills using commas, rhetorical questions and diary entries.

Next week in maths we will be learning all about money. We will look at being able to recognise coins and notes and compare different amounts. We will look at giving change up to and including £1 using our 100 square.

Next week for our thematic curriculum we will become designers in our Design and technology lessons. Later in the week we will be consolidating all our learning this term and doing a quiz.
