One Childhood, One Chance

Week Beginning Monday 10th July Team Indigo and Team Royal

Wow what a fantastic week we have had in Team Indigo and Team Royal, take a look at what we have been up to this week….

Maths

This week in maths we have been looking at bar models and recapped intervals of time. We looked at the bar models and had to decide if we needed to add or subtract to find the missing number. We used the column method to find the answer. Later in the week looked at tricky money problems using the bar model.

English

This week in English we wrote a re-count of making our bug hotel outside in our playground. Then we created our own bug character and setting description of the woods and forest to support us in creating our own storybook! Miss Hall, Miss Davey and Mrs Barlow were all so proud of our beautiful stories and wonderful imagination. Well done Team Indigo and Team Royal!

Guided Reading

This week in guided reading we read the non-fiction book How Bees Make Honey by Louise Spilsbury. We compared the definitions from the book’s glossary to the definitions in the dictionary and had to write down the one which gave a greater understanding of the word. We then had to identify and use the features of a non-fiction text and write our answers in full sentences.

Thematic Curriculum

This week we consolidated our learning in our thematic Ready Steady Sow and Grow with a quiz of all the wonderful things we have learnt this term. The children have also created a bug hotel for our playground in our new garden area!

Art

This week in art we relooked at the 3 artists George Seurat, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. We recreated their paintings and used pastels, crayons and felt tip pens.

Inflatable Fun Day,

Thursday 20th July will be non-uniform for the whole school as it is our Inflatable Fun Day. For your children to have the best experience at our inflatable fun day please make sure your children are wearing suitable clothing for the bouncy castles.

Transition Days

Just a reminder of our transition days for children in Year 2. These will be held from Monday 17th to Wednesday 19th July where children will spend the three days in their new classrooms with new teachers. The children will come into their normal Year 2 class Monday morning, after assembly children will be going with their new teacher to their class in Year 3. At the end of the day children will need to be collected from the top field. Tuesday and Wednesday children will need to be dropped off at their Year 3 class and picked up from the field. On Thursday and Friday, they will be back in their year 2 class.

Key dates to remember:

Inflatable Fun Day – Thursday 20th July - We will have several inflatables on the playground for a reward for all of the children at the end of the school year.

Final Day of Term – Friday 21st July - We will be waving goodbye to our Year 6 children from 1:00 and the rest of the children will finish school at 2:00.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all on Monday!

Miss Hall, Miss Davey and Mrs Barlow
