Home Learning - Monday 30th March

Welcome to day 6 of Home Learning. Keep up the hard work!

Good Morning Reception,

Here are your challenges for home learning today:

Todays sound is ‘nk’ (as in ‘I think I stink’)

You say: ‘nk’

They say ‘nk’

You say ‘nk – I think I stink’

They say ‘nk – I think I stink’

Show them the picture of the Read Write Inc ‘nk’ (see blog post picture. You can also find this on your Chilton Handwriting Patter sheet.) Look at the picture on the ‘nk’ tile. “I think I stink”. Point out to your child that there are two letters that make one sound – nk. Have your child practice writing it in the air. Now they can practice writing a line of ‘nk’ in their home learning book. We recap 2 handwriting patters every day. Today our recap sounds are ‘f’ and ‘t’. Again, please refer to your handwriting patter sheet. Now it is time to practice oral blending.

You say ‘s’ ‘I’ ‘nk’

They say ‘sink’

You say ‘s – I – nk sink’

They say ‘s – I – nk sink’

Repeat with the words ‘blink’ and ‘stink’.

Now they can practice writing those words in their home learning book.

Don't forget to read your book or access some of the online reading links.

We follow the Read Write Inc scheme of work from Ruth Miskin. RWI are making speed sound videos which are available for 2 weeks every day from 9.30. This would be a great way of starting your phonics lesson. Please see link -

Can you create a repeated pattern? You can use objects from around your house e.g. banana, apple, banana apple. Start off with a 2 part pattern. Now try a 3 part pattern! You can also record some patterns in your home learning book e.g. love heart, circle, triangle, love heart, circle, triangle.

Challenge: Can you complete a pattern that your grown up has started?

E.g. green, blue, blue, green, blue …. What comes next?

Superhero P.E. challenge.

You are a superhero! What is your superhero name? Superhero, how many ________ can you do in 30 seconds?

  • Star jumps
  • Push ups
  • Sit ups
