One Childhood, One Chance

Friday 28th May 2021

We have completed a whole term! The children have done so well but are all ready for a rest. They have made so much progress this term and, again, it has been so lovely to see friendships blossoming between the two classes as they have been able to continue to mix outside. We hope that you all have a wonderful week next week and are all able to recharge your batteries ready to head in to what will be a fun (and busy! Term 6!

Maths

In maths this week, we have been learning about money. We have learned the value of each coin and learned that the bigger the coin does not always mean it is worth more! We have matched coins to their value and have ordered the coins from the least amount to the smallest amount. On Friday, we played shops. The children had to choose an item and then select the correct coin to pay with. They have been amazing at learning about money (something which is often very tricky for the children to learn).

Topic

This week, we have been reading the story ‘Julian is a Mermaid’. The whole school have been reading this book. We have created flowers to go on a display and have thought about why it is good to be me. The children came up with some truly wonderful ideas e.g. It is good to be me because my family is special. It is good to be me because I play my favourite game with my Daddy.

Love to Learn

At the start of next term our topic will be ‘The Seaside’!  Your challenge over the holidays is to find out about some aspect of the seaside. This could be finding out about the sea, beach, seaside holidays past and present and so on (please follow your child’s interests). You could look in an information book, go to the beach and record what you found/draw pictures, read stories about under the sea creatures, look on the internet, ask a grown up and so on.  Your child can draw pictures in their Love to Learn book, stick in pictures from the internet or photos of the beach.  They could make a model, a collage or paint a picture.  Please return the Love to Learn challenges by Wednesday 9th June so that we can use them at the start of our topic.

We have glued the activity in to the Love to Learn books we had at school. If we did not have your child’s book in school, we have put the slip in their book bag. If you do not have your child’s love to learn book, please complete the activity on paper and send it in to school. Thank you!

REMINDERS:

  • A reminder that children need to come in wearing their PE kit on a Tuesday and a Friday.
  • School starts again for all children on Monday 7th June.
  • Any junk modelling would be much appreciated.
  • If you collect any items for the beach we would love to use them in our role play areas in school.

Have a great week!
