We have had another wonderful week in Reception! Well done to all of the children who have tried so hard with their learning over this week.
The children have been continuing to practise Set 1 sounds. They have been practising writing these sounds and reading and writing words with these sounds in. As we have come to the end of Set 1 sounds, we have not added any new sounds in to your child’s pink sounds book. Please keep these books safe at home and continue to practise these sounds. We will let you know when your child starts to learn Set 2 sounds.
This week, we have been learning about 2D shapes (circle, triangle, square, oblong and pentagon). We have learned the names of these shapes and have been describing these 2D shapes. We have also been learning the names of 3D shapes (sphere, cone, cube, cuboid, pyramid, cylinder). We have been on a hunt around the school to find 3D shapes and have matched objects (e.g. a dice to the 3D shape – a cube).
This week we have continued to use the Naughty Bus story to help us with our learning. We thought of things which the nus might do at night time. We then worked as a class to write our own Naughty Bus story. Each class has created a fabulous story! The children also recreated a page in the book with some wonderful artwork. They used sponges to paint, tissue paper and cut out a picture of a bus to make their beautiful artwork.
- Thanks to the parents who attended their parent-teacher consultation. If you were unable to attend, please speak to your child’s class teacher who will happily arrange another appointment.
- Next week, the children will be going on their bus trip (Team Topaz on Tuesday and Team Aqua on Wednesday). If you have any questions regarding this, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
- Any junk modelling or unwanted bedsheets would be gratefully received!
We hope that you have a restful weekend, and we cannot wait to see the children next week for another fun packed week of learning!
