Friday 5th June
Good Morning Team Teal and Team Periwinkle and a happy Fri-YAY to you all. We hope you have all had a wonderful week. With the rain returning this week, perhaps it'll be a weekend to enjoy a duvet day watching films or dig out your welly boots for a splash in the puddles. Whatever you get up to, we hope you have a lovely weekend. Below is today's learning, we hope you enjoy it!
Your RWI videos will be available from 9:30am and you can choose from set 2 or set 3, whichever you feel your child needs to focus on. There will be reading opportunities for longer words and red words included in each session. Use the link below to find the lessons you need under the different categories.
If you would rather not use the videos, teach the lesson as follows:
1, Find the sound ‘o-e’ on your sound card and say it lots of times, make sure you are looking at the sound to ensure you remember what it looks like, also say ‘o-e- phone home.’ Explain that these are chatty friends (they are not allowed to sit together as they chat too much so have to be separated! When you're finished, point to some other sounds too (about 10).
2. Write down the following words for your child to read (home, alone, joke, stroke, broke). Remember they need to find the special/ chatty friends, Fred talk and then read the word.
3. Now write down some words for your child to read as a recap of previous sounds learnt (cake, brute, rain, hear, hair). This time encourage your child to say the sounds in their head and then say the word aloud.
4. Ask your child to show you their alien faces! Write down the words . Ask your child to spot the special/ chatty friends, Fred talk and then read the word.
5. Now it's time for spellings! One at a time say the following words to your read (home, alone, joke, stroke, broke). Repeat the word back to each other then ask them to pinch the sounds. When they know how many sounds in the word they can write it down. Help your child to tick or fix (correct) their work.
Today in English we would like you to read the story below. It is quite a challenging text, so perhaps you and your adult can share the reading.
Last week the Space X launch took place from America. Watch the video with your child (click on the link below to watch the video).
Ask your child to write 3 sentences to describe the space launch using as many describing words as they can.
Today in Maths you will be using all the new skills you have been learning this week to answer questions about pictograms and tally charts. Click on the worksheets attached and complete the questions.
Today is our final RE lesson of this term. Today you will be learning about the Muslim festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr. Read through the slides with your adults and answer the questions on the sheet.
A huge well done to Ted for his wonderful writing about the potion he made yesterday. Ted challenges all his Year 1 friends to have a go at making their own potion at home. Great work Ted!
That is all for today. We hope you have enjoyed your learning. Have a wonderful day and a lovely weekend.
