Term 4 Week 3

Maths

This week in Maths we have been looking at finding fractions! We started the week off by finding a half and a quarter of a shape. By using pancakes, we learnt that 2/4 make a ½! We then got to eat our yummy pancakes as a treat for our fabulous Maths learning! We then moved our learning onto finding fractions of a number. We used sharing circles so if we were finding a half we needed 2 sharing circles, if we were finding a quarter we needed 4 sharing circles! We had so much fun in Maths this week, although it has been challenging we really gave it our all!

Topic

In Topic we have been looking at hospitals in the past. We looked at how different they were and how far our hospitals have progressed over the years. For our big write we wrote about a trip to a hospital in first person. This is something we have been working really hard on! Later in the week we looked at how lucky we are by comparing our lives to people who live in poverty. We took a look at children who live in Africa and other countries who might not be as lucky as us. This was linked to Comic Relief.

Home Learning

Thank you for your space shoeboxes!

At Chilton Primary school one of our priorities is the children’s wellbeing. Every day we do at least one wellbeing activity, whether that be yoga, peer massage, 1K a day or meditation. We would like you to think about what helps you to calm down. Is it having a cold drink? Reading a book? Massaging your forearm?

You can present your home learning in any way that you wish.

Home learning due in Wednesday 20th March.

Coming up…

Space day Monday!

We will be holding an Easter Bonnet / hat parade for Reception, Year 1 and 2 pupils. We invite children to create an Easter masterpiece in head-wear and then bring it to school on the last day of term (5th April). We will then hold a parade at 10:00 and parents of Reception, Year 1 and 2 children are invited to join us. Please come in via the school hall. The parade will last no longer than 20-30 minutes. Prizes will be awarded to the best creations!

Please remember to bring in the children’s PE kit. They have gymnastics this term so only need top and shorts.
