Weekly News! w/b 28.6.21
This week in Year 2 we have been doing…
This week, we continued looking at the book ‘The Magic Finger,’ Using our knowledge of the story, we were able to write an acrostic poem! We answered some tricky questions about the story and discussed whether we agree or disagree with hunting! (Like the Gregg family!)
This week in English, we have been identifying, and using, model verbs and switching them around to see if they make sense in different sentences! We used them when instructing the Gregg’s to make slug burgers YUKK! We then moved on to rhetorical questions. We used our own rhetorical questions to persuade people to become ducks and not to hunt animals.
This week in Maths, we have been looking at the four operations; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. When adding and subtracting we practised using the column method, when multiplying we used an array and when dividing we used sharing circles. Amazing work Year 2!
This week has been all about materials! We identified a variety of materials and their uses. We took a trip outside and recorded what materials we had around the school! We then were given some tricky items, where we had to decide which material would be best to use and explained why.
Love to Learn
We would love for you to take a tour around your house/garden. What materials can you spot and what are they being used for. How can you record this data?
