One Childhood, One Chance

Year 3 Weekly Blog - 04.02.2022

English

This week in English we have been tackling playscripts. We have read our book (Stone Age Boy) and created our own version in the form of a play. We have been looking at all the different features we need to use and including them in our writing, such as character lists, dialogue, narration and stage directions.

Next week we will continue to write our playscripts, looking further into the skills needed.

Maths

We have been focusing on subtraction this week, using both mental tactics and the column method. We have been solving subtraction problems and learning how to exchange when answering questions using the column method.

Next week we will be recapping both multiplication and division.

Topic

We have been discovering how scientists know so much about prehistory by looking at fossils and how they are made. We now understand the process of fossilisation, how certain types of rocks are made and how soil is created from rocks over a long period of time.

Next week is Online Safety Week, when we will be learning how to stay safe and happy online.

Love To Learn

Your Love To Learn task this week is to create your own fossil! It can be made from any material you like and can be anything that palaeontologists have found over the years. You can bring in your fossil or take a picture and send it in.

Notices

Children's Mental Health Week is taking place from 7th-13th February this year. Chilton will be supporting this by holding our very own 'Dress to Express' mental health awareness event. On the 11th February, we invite all the children to come to school expressing themselves, by wearing bright colours. We look forward to seeing their expressive outfits on the day
