One Childhood, One Chance

Weekly News

Check out what Year 4 have been up to this week!

Weekly News – 21st June 2018

In our Maths lessons this week, we have been working on continuing to use the four operations in the context of measuring mass and lengths. We worked on the different methods or addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and applied those skills to a range of different problems. We have also been practising our times tables skills.

In English, we have continued reading ‘Wizards of Once’, and our two main characters, Wish and Xar, have finally met! We wrote a piece describing their first meeting varying our nouns and pronouns. We then planned and wrote a play script using effective stage directions, detailing a battle between Xar and Wish.

In Topic, we have completed a number of experiments, including different ways of turning butter from a solid into a liquid and what happens to the molecules in milk when they are agitated by stirring/shaking. We also tested to see if different materials would dissolve in milk or not. We have also been learning about Buddhism in RE.

Home learning:

There is no right or wrong way to complete a Love to Learn task! Please be as imaginative or as creative as you would like! Love to Learn tasks should be returned on the Wednesday following them being set. Whilst books may not be formally marked, in class we will spend time looking at and enjoying what everyone has learned at home and rewards and house points will be given!

There is a MyMaths taks set, due 26th June 2019.
