At Chilton, we encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their time at school and beyond. We develop pupils’ enjoyment and interest in science and an appreciation of its contribution to all aspects of everyday life. We aim to build on pupils’ curiosity and sense of awe of the natural world. Through the teaching of our thematic curriculum, the children use a range of investigations and practical activities to give them a greater understanding of the concepts and knowledge of science. We introduce pupils to the language and vocabulary of science, so that they may effectively communicate their scientific ideas. The use of computing technology in their science studies is a vital part of learning at Chilton. The children will develop positive attitudes which encourage collaborative learning and perseverance in scientific learning and they will discover the links between science and other areas of the curriculum.
Key skills within our science curriculum are:
A) Carrying out experiments and asking scientific questions
